April is a transition month here at Cross Creek. We see many of our seasonal members and renters returning to their summer homes and things get a bit quieter here. The weather is heating up and the rainy season is coming soon (we hope). April is a great month to enjoy all that Cross Creek offers. Remember the Golf Course and Restaurant are still open 7 days/week until May 1 when we return to summer hours.
Highlights:
Lakes Project Update: Work continues on the lake 12. The contractor, engineers, Masterboard reps, and individual associations remain in communication. As always, respect all the staging areas and steer clear of active work zones. We appreciate your patience as the crews do their best to complete the work ahead of the rainy season.
Golf Course/Pro Shop: There is a new face in the Pro Shop. If you haven’t already met Assistant Golf Operations Manager, Joe Baldridge please stop by and say hello. Rod Kooker, PGA Professional, conducted clinics and lessons to our members throughout the season with great success. The golf course is showing some signs of improvement now that the source of the problem has been identified. The summer rains will help restore the greens and fairways. Keep an eye on your email for scheduled course management updates.
The Cross Creek Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, March 26. Harvey Lapoint completed his tenure as President. The Board members, new and old, thank Harvey for his strong commitment to Cross Creek. We look forward to seeing Harvey around the community enjoying some well-earned downtime. The new board will continue to prioritize projects for the 2026/27 fiscal year. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out. Contact members directly or email [email protected].
We are still in a serious draught situation here in Lee County. Please do what you can to minimize water use during this period and avoid any unnecessary power washing, car washing, etc.
The Presidents of the 18 Cross Creek Associations had several productive meetings this past season. Continued commitment to better communication is key to making our community function better. Thanks to Ted Knudson for convening the meetings and to all who participated in the discussions. Serving on any Board or Committee is a tough job that does not come with a lot of perks. A sincere Thank You to each and every one of you!!
As you are probably aware we are exploring some options related to high wastewater treatment costs. One of the options was to join Lee County Utilities. This is the same utility that currently handles our water systems. It is not a simple decision to make the switch, but a committee was formed to explore the idea and is looking into the options available to us and what the costs and benefits would be of any changes. Stay tuned for more information.
Mary Peabody, Director on behalf of the Master Board
