Summer is officially here and it is starting off HOT! Remember to stay hydrated, avoid the midday sun if possible and keep sunscreen and a hat with you and use them. Lightning can be fierce this time of year. If you hear thunder, take shelter. And keep your pets safe in the heat too. Make sure they have plenty of water and avoid hot sidewalks and roadways during the middle of the day.
Highlights:
Lakes Project Update: Work on Lakes 10/11 has been suspended with the arrival of the rainy season. While we had hoped the Phase II work would be complete that just didn’t happen. Work will commence in November as soon as water levels permit. Once this phase is complete the remaining work required and the budget will be assessed and the next phase will be announced.
Golf Course/Pro Shop: Bob Clark is wasting no time settling into his position as Golf Pro. There are lessons, clinics and camps aplenty to keep your game heading in the right direction. Take advantage of the quieter months and stop by the Pro Shop to sign up. Summer reciprocals are also an excellent way to experience golf courses in the region. Please remember that you must make your reservations through the Pro Shop. The grounds crew are busy with the summer course maintenance which will pay off with an improved playing experience for everyone. Please be patient with the crew as they juggle schedules and weather to complete necessary work.
Restaurant: In case you missed the news, Cross Creek welcomed Chef Yurima Nunez to the restaurant team in mid-June. Yurima has a passion for cooking and is looking forward to this new chapter. Chef Nunez, originally from Cuba and most recently from Miami, has an extensive culinary background and you can look forward to some exciting new flavors along with some of the old favorites. We expect to see a new summer menu early in July so stop in and enjoy lunch or dinner at the Clubhouse and welcome “Yuri” to her new position.
Focus Groups: The deadline for the focus group projects was extended until July 7 to give folks who missed the original posting time to apply. If you already submitted your application you’ll hear from your Board liaison soon. To clarify, meetings can be held via Zoom so owners away for the summer can still participate. See https://crosscreekfl.com/notices/ for details.
Weather Safety Note: We are now in Hurricane Season!! Although June and July are typically fairly quiet all residents are reminded to keep an eye out for weather announcements. Now is also a good time to download the LeePrepares app to your phone. It has everything you need to prepare for storm season and will guide you through everything from your emergency supply kit to evacuation routes.
Master Board meetings are scheduled for 9:00am on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
