On December 6, the Women’s 18 Golf League celebrated the holiday season with a Reindeer Scramble (no actual reindeer involved). Fifty-two women adorned themselves and the golf carts with seasonal bling, then rolled out for a fun time around the course. In addition to the Scramble, several holes had more surprises for the golfers and added fun to the day. This reporter’s personal favorite was on No. 8: a big “Thank You” to Les Jankowski for perfect Blood Marys. Thank you, Andy and Rick, and all the helpers, for getting us out on time and letting us dress-up the golf carts.
Once outside play was done, there was more fun waiting inside the clubhouse. In addition to food and beverages, there were prizes and gifts galore! The White Elephant Gift Exchange (WEGE) is always a favorite. It was amazing to see how the expectation of a good surprise can keep 52 adults in their chairs, eagerly waiting their turn. Hmm, could it be the child in us that comes out to play at holiday time? Or, was it these are experienced WEGE players and they knew there’d be booze in those bags? Everyone left with something, and a big smile.
