Notes From The Master Board

  • June 2026
  • MARY PEABODY, DIRECTOR ON BEHALF OF THE MASTER BOARD

We are officially into the summer and it will be HOT! If you’re new to the area remember to stay hydrated, avoid the midday sun if possible and keep sunscreen and a hat with you and use them. Lightning can be fierce this time of year. If you hear thunder, take shelter.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Lakes Project Update: Work on Lakes 10/11 should be wrapping up soon. These are the final lakes in this year’s scope of work and brings Phase II of the project to a close. As always, respect all the staging areas and steer clear of active work zones. We appreciate your patience as the crews do their best to complete the work ahead of the rainy season. Once this phase is complete the remaining work required and the budget will be assessed and the next phase will be announced.

Golf Course/Pro Shop: The search for a Golf Pro to grow our programs and support the members and visitors to our course continues. You might also have noticed some of the greens have been replaced and we expect to see some rapid improvement in course conditions as the rainy season provides some much-needed hydration for the fairways. Summer reciprocals are an excellent way to experience golf courses in the region. Please remember that you must make your reservations through the Pro Shop. And speaking of the Pro Shop stop by to see the new merchandise arriving in early June!

Restaurant: Staff and Board members will begin some strategic planning for next season related to restaurant hours, menu, special event nights and customer engagement. In the meantime, keep an eye out for Happy Hour specials and new menu items.

Monday, May 11 was Staff Appreciation Day at Cross Creek.  In spite of the heat, our intrepid staff and board members enjoyed a round of golf and a pizza lunch. We are proud of the service provided to members and guests by our staff and this was an opportunity to say “Thank You”!

Weather Safety Note: We are now in Hurricane Season!! Although June and July are typically fairly quiet all residents are reminded to keep an eye out for weather announcements. We recommend advance preparation. This is a good time to check those flashlights, weather radios, backup charging units and storm shutters to get everything in working order. If you know you’d need assistance with storm preparation now is the time to line someone up. You might also begin stocking up on some drinking water just in case.  If you’re planning on going away, even for just a couple days, please make sure that anything that could blow around is put under cover. This includes chairs, umbrellas, plant pots, small tables. Afternoon storms can come with some powerful winds, and your neighbors will appreciate your preparation.

Master Board meetings are scheduled for 9:00am on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
